Free Cars for Low Income Families: Review 3 of 8 - VehiclesForChange.org

Previously on the Millionaires Giving Money blog I wrote a Post about how to get free cars for low income families. This post became very popular and received a lot of recognition for the information provided. After receiving several thank you emails I decided to write a series of post reviewing all the organizations that offer a free car or partially free car in detail. All the low income assistance programs to get a free car mentioned here are legal and legitimate and to date have donated over 50,000 vehicles to low income families and individuals who need help with a car. Some of the free car programs I will be looking at include 1800 Auto Donations, Online Car Donations, Vehicles for Change, With Causes, Modest Needs, Free Gas USA and Free Auto Cars company.

My intension is that this review helps those searching for free cars for low income families. Most individuals and families take out payday loans, short term loans or even bad credit loans when they need access to a vehicle. What you should do is look at all the low income assistance programs on offer for free cars so they can apply for the vehicle for free. If you�re on a very low income and making a transition then you will be eligible for a free car from the aforementioned organisations. Free Charity Cars

Free Cars for Low Income Families Review: vehiclesforchange.org

Vehiclesforchange.org also known as VFC is an organisation dedicated to helping low income families with a car. It has a number of low income assistance programs where you can apply for free charity cars. VFC empowers individuals and families to achieve personal and economic independence through car ownership.

Vehiclesforchange.org has created a sustainable free charity car program in the Mayland-Virginia-Washington DC region and is now replicating the low income assistance program nationally. The ultimate aim for VFC is to bring independent transportation and training in the automotive field to as many low income families and individuals as possible.

How to Get a Free Charity Car

Vehiclesforchange.org works by receiving donated cars from the public in exchange for a tax write off. Car donors receive full fair market value for their car donations. Once VFC receive the vehicle they check the car thoroughly and make sure it is roadworthy. VFC spend an average of $750 per vehicle which includes repairs, service and bodywork to make everything safe and secure. These vehicles are then sold on or given for free to low income individuals and families who are referred by social services.

Since 2000 Vehiclesforchange.org has awarded over 4000 cars to low income families. VFC have changed the lives of 15,000 people and research suggests that 75% of the free car recipients go on to get better jobs and have boosted their earnings by $7000 on average.

Vehiclesforchange.org guarantees low interest car loans which allows families and individuals to get access to affordable credit and repair any bad credit that they may have. VFC also carries out a half yearly/6000 km warranty with real maintenance for 24,000 miles or 2 years.

Who is Eligible for a Free Vehicle?

To be eligible for an awarded car you must be on the road to self sufficiency with the only thing holding you back being transportation. There is a criteria to receive a donated read ready car which is outlined below.

You must have a verifiable job offer working at least 30 hours.

You must have a drivers licence.

No DWI�s or DUI�s.

You must not have other vehicle in your household.

You must be drug free and no extensive criminal background.

You must be able to cover fees for tax, tags, and title

You must have children if you are under the age of 25.

You must be able to afford the ongoing cost of car ownership such as insurance, fuel and repairs.

There are three low income assistance programs on offer from VFC. These include Tier I Program, Tier II Program and the Maryland transportation Assistance Program which are outlined below.

Tier I Program

Tier I program awards low income families who fit the above criteria with vehicles for about $750 dollars. Low interest loans are guaranteed regardless of bad credit history. The program is used for individuals and families referred to by social services and job readiness agencies.

Tier II Program

Tier II Program awards vehicles at below market prices. To be eligible you must have low incomes and not meet the criteria for Tier I where you don�t have a referring agency.

Maryland Transportation Assistance Program

Maryland State Department of Human Resources has initiated a partnership with VFC to create the Transportation Assistance Program (TAP). This program offers vehicles state wide to help TCA (Temporary Cash Assistance) recipients to keep employed. Some of the requirements include the following.

You must be eligible to receive TCA.

You must have a job that is accessible to public transport.

You must work non-traditional work hours.

You must have valid driver licence and proof or 30 hours employment.

How Can I Increase My Chances of Getting a Free Vehicle?

To improve your chances of being awarded a vehicle you must position yourself so you meet the requirements. You should contact social services and seek their assistance. If you are on a low income you should consider applying for TCA and you should have compelling evidence that your employment depends on your car.

The awards process is very simple and you can get guaranteed access to credit regardless of your credit history. 1800 Charity Cars: This is an organization which accepts donated vehicles in exchange for a tax deduction. These cars are then checked and repaired to be given away to low income families and individuals. To apply for a free car you need to create a profile and get votes on your hardship. The person with the highest votes gets a free vehicle.

Online Car Donation Organization: This is another organization which gives away free cars to help people in need. In particular they prefer to give these free vehicles to battered women, disabled people, military families, self supporting families and families living in homeless shelters. All you need to do to apply is fill in some basic details and explain why you need the car and how it would make a difference to your life.

Vehicles for Change Organization: Vehicles for Change is another organization which accepts donated vehicles in exchange for a tax receipt. The cars are then repaired and made roadworthy. Fortunately there are many places where you an get a free car and in this article I will list all the places that you can inquire for a used free vehicle, this is not an urban myth, there are many people out there who are donating their car for tax deductions and it's worth your while checking out some of the options outlined in this special post. This non profit organization accepts donation auto and then gives them out to people who are needy. The reason why people donate cars to charities is because they get full fair market value of their car as a tax deduction if they are given to a disadvantaged person. You can become a member of the charity and then post a profile online explaining your hardship, you then network with people and the more support or votes you get the more likely you are to be allocated a used car for free, this is a great way to distribute cars according to how needy the person is. #2: Online Car Donations Auto Charity

Online car donation is another site which accepts car donations in exchange for tax deductions,  they specifically support battered women, those with physical challenges, families living in homeless shelters, self supporting families, non profit organizations and military family. It's very easy to apply for a vehicle and all you have to do is leave your name and contact details and a brief explanation of your situation and vehicle needs. #3: Vehicles for Change

This is another great non profit organization which accepts cars as donations, they help donors get the best possible tax deduction. These cars are allocated to those people who are on the road to self sufficiency but struggle with transportation. To be qualify for a low cost car you must have a verifiable job offer or be working at least 30 hours per week, must have a drivers license, you must be insurable, must not have other cars in the household, be drug free and no extensive criminal background. #4: Free Cars from With Causes

Another great organization which helps low income families is WithCauses.Org, this site allows low income families and individuals to state their hardship and need on an online application form. The form is then reviewed by a consultant who then gives them advice and direction on how to make these requests possible. This is a great site if you want to learn more about where to look for help. #5: Modest Needs

Another great site that helps low income families and individuals with vehicles is ModestNeeds.Org, this is a great site that allows you to post your hardship and then ask for a modest amount of money. Most of the request on these sites are for money needed for repairs, if you already own a vehicle and need to repair it in order to get it on the road then you could try posting your needs on this site and then wait to get help. #6: Donate a Car Today

Another great site to apply for donated cars is DonateACarToday.Com, this site has an excellent list of car donation sites and organization which you can approach for free cars. The organization are listed by States and range from Alabama to Hawaii, Idaho to Minnesota, Mississippi to Ohio, Oklahoma to Wyoming. FreeGasUsa.Org is a charitable religious organization which offers fuel grants to poverty stricken families and individuals who need help. Once you have enough votes you can apply for a free vehicle. Free Charity Cars have a lot of vehicles in their inventory as motorists donate their unwanted old car for tax breaks. This process is completely legitimate and worth pursuing if you really need a new car. All the details are given below.

If you live in the Minneapolis area you can contact the Getting There Program offered by ATI. The Getting There Program helps low income families and individuals with affordable and reliable transportation. The agency will pass on or sometimes sell at extreme discounts vehicles which include cars and trucks. You can apply for a low interest loan or sell vehicles at low pre-established prices. Again this program might not offer a free vehicles but is certainly worth considering as the prices are low and the finances changes are minuscule compared to banks. The program covers Scott, Carver, and Dakota Counties and supports low income families who need affordable and reliable transportation. 3 :: Free Vehicles in Alabama

If you live in the great State of Alabama you could be eligible for a free car or help towards a free vehicle. One program is Caring Cars which is based in the North Central Alabama region. The program gives away free vehicles to low income families and individuals who need help with employment transportation. To be eligible you need to be referred through a social worker from Family Service Center. If your quality of life would improve exponentially by getting a free car contact the programs below. 4:: Free Cars in Michigan

If you need a free vehicle and you live in Michigan the first step you should take is to call a social worker or case worker to find out more about the programs available. The Human Resources Department of Michigan offers a free vehicle service for the counties of Manistee, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Emmet and Antrim. You should also apply for car programs such as Christian Automobile Repair Services (C.A.R.S), this program will help towards any nasty repairs to your vehicle.
